Render Systems

In the past, Cement renders were the waterproofer’s only real way of water proofing until these membranes became widely available.

The renders of the past used to fail due to poor preparation or a movement in the structure causing cracking and therefore a failure.  However the more modern renders now have elasticity built in to allow for slight movement within the structure.  This has to be applied meticulously, as this is the key to the success or failure of the render application.

Renders are best used on convoluted structures to block the water travel and move it down behind the more reliable cavity drainage membrane (this is called a combined system).
